Loss Diets?
Weight Loss Diets
Why weight loss diets don't work
Most morbidly obese people have dieted "up" to their current
weight. It would be very difficult to find an obese person who hadn't
tried several diets – and yet, they're still obese.
Perhaps they've even enjoyed some short-term success. But according
to the National Institutes of Health, for every 100 people who lose
a significant amount of weight through weight loss diets, only three
to five of them will be able to keep the weight off, and most will
regain even more than what they lost.
Morbid obesity is a chronic disease, which evidence suggests is a
condition to which people are genetically predisposed. It is not a
choice or a lifestyle and it can be deadly. It can't be successfully
treated with the same weight loss diet someone of average size would
use to take off that extra five pounds put on over the holidays.
What is it they say about one definition of insanity? Trying the same
thing over and over and expecting a different result. If you're one
of the 95 to 98 percent of the population for whom weight loss diets
have failed, perhaps it's time to try something new.
