Aimee Maldonado
BMI 38
Sensitive to the plight of overweight
individuals, Aimee remembers
being made fun of as a child
for her size. However, she admits
that her weight didn’t truly bother
her until she was diagnosed with
diabetes. “I never had to think
twice when stuffing my face with
cake and ice cream or eating an
extra large French fry when eating
out. Sometimes I would think
‘what does it matter if I'm not
around in a few years?’ but then I
remembered that I have 2 children
and a husband who need me as
much as I need them,” she tells us.
Aimee wants those in the same
boat to know “your life does matter
and even the smallest impact
you have on someone’s life could
be the biggest to them.”
Her goals during this competition
are to get her diabetes under control
and have a complete lifestyle
change. She also hopes that through
her journey, someone’s life is
touched and changed for the better.
Supported by the ladies she works
with, Aimee knows that they see
her true potential and will not let
her fail. Her mom is also encouraging
her and has even told her
that she would do anything to
take the diabetes away and deal
with it herself. Fortunate to have a
cook for a husband, Aimee is
enjoying healthy lunches and
foods at the hands of her loving
and supportive other half.
