Dr. Procter is a knowledgeable, experienced physician, who seems to care deeply for his patients. At the time I went through his program, the assemblage of professionals involved in preparing the patient for this major life change seemed totally focused on helping the patient reach a positive outcome. Anyone considering this procedure will benefit from appropriate psychological support and guidance, as surgery alone is insufficient to repair the damage done to our souls and psyches, on behalf of which we self-medicated with food beyond all reasonable measure. This support is key to maintaining a changed lifestyle, which in turn is necessary to lose weight and keep it off.

I met Dr. Richard at my first information meeting. He answered most of the questions I had during the lecture. He did not seem to be rushed or in a hurry to get away. I mean, it was a Saturday. He was there till the very end and then some. He is a very personable doctor. I never felt uneasy with any of my personal questions, he was very easy to talk to and never minded re-explaining himself if I needed it.

His office staff were so friendly and helpful. I never called his office that I did not get a call back the same day. Dr. Richard and his staff made this experience a very positive one for me and I highly recommend Dr. Richard for the gastric bypass surgery.

My first impression of Dr. Richard was and still is WONDERFUL. The office staff is so very nice and knowledgeable. He totally put me at ease and answered all of my questions very well and also educated me a little more. Future patients will fall in love with his bedside manner... he is very soft-spoken and looks you in the eye, not at your belly and treats you like you are the only person in the world while he is talking to you. He addressed the risks of surgery in detail and made sure I understood every last risk and what could happen, and ended with "But we're not expecting that, nor are we going to think about it unless it's necessary." He is very confident about the outcome of each patient, he's not "Oh, everyone will be fine." There is no "everyone" when it's just you and him. It's only you. He is completely focused on you and nothing else. I am completely at rest with him and not worried about anything. He exudes self-confidence and the bedside manner is very confident and very caring. I look forward to getting to know him better. This is my own personal experience with him and my opinion of him has not changed.

I had my open RNY gastric bypass performed by Dr. Robert Richard on 12-16-03. I found him to be a confident, capable, compassionate man and surgeon. He gave me the sense that all will be well and that I would do fine. I can honestly say that he was right. I have had no problems since the surgery. I have only a small 4-inch line down my stomach. I had no drain tube nor any staples or stitches to close the incision. He used some medical "superglue" to hold it closed. I was out of the hospital in 2 days and back at work in 3 weeks. Life is so wonderful for me now that I can hardly believe it myself. I have lost more than 100 lbs. in just over four months. I thank Dr. Richard and the entire Obesity Solutions staff. I would recommend Dr. Richard to anyone without hesitation. He has helped me to save my life. This is the way I want to be in the world.

The support group meetings are critically necessary. You learn so much from those who have been there before you. The psychological component really opens your eyes as to why you are what you are, and what you can do mentally to prepare yourself. The support staff has the information you need any time you need it, just call. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! People UNDERSTAND. The doctors know their stuff and keep you on top of what is going to happen to you. The staff knows the insurance side of things and how to manipulate the necessary paperwork. I simply have NO REGRETS. I do not miss stuffing myself to feel better.

My first impression of Dr. Procter was that he is very well educated in the program of bariatrics. He trained with some of the best in the country. Over the last 8 months, I began to see why this successful vascular surgeon changed his practice to include bariatrics. It is a passion for him to know that he is helping patients take control of their weight for the rest of their lives. His office is very professional and courteous. I didn't have to answer the same questions 4 or 5 times. (I hate that.)...
     The ObesitySolutions program is wonderful. It did take me 6 to 8 months to go through, including waiting for insurance approval. However, I realized that I needed each and every one of those days to prepare me for the lifelong commitment I am making. The aftercare is extensive, follow-ups, support meetings, group meetings.
     The team at ObesitySolutions is very up front about the risks of surgery. I believe that they are performing these surgeries because they are talented, but also they have true compassion for those of us who fall in this category of morbid obesity. You can tell when a person is sincere and passionate about what they do. They are the real deal.

I had done my homework, and he recognized that. This program has really good psychological support meetings every Thursday night and a Saturday 2-hour meeting once a month.
