Dr. Charley Procter, MD
curriculum vitae
Charles D. Procter, Jr., M.D., FACS, understands and values the need for a lifelong relationship when it comes to bariatric patients. "This allows me to really make an impact on somebody’s life," says Dr. Charley, "because this weight-loss procedure requires a life-long commitment. It's the relationship with our patients that makes it successful, not so much the surgery itself. And that leads to greater investment and greater satisfaction for the patients and for me."
Before starting on his medical path, Dr. Procter received a B.A. in diplomacy and foreign affairs from Miami University of Ohio. He spent only 8 months in his new career, serving in D.C and Russia, before turning to medicine.
He returned to college and earned a double major in microbiology and cellular biology at the University of Georgia in only three years. In 2002, he received his medical degree at Medical College of Georgia and went on to serve his residencies at the University of Kentucky and the Greenville Memorial Medical Center in South Carolina.
In 2007, Dr. Procter returned to Georgia and joined ObesitySolutions to continue his special interest in minimally invasive bariatric surgery. He brings advanced training in the gastric banding procedure and the use of laparoscopic surgery.
"By the time patients come to us, they've reached the end of their rope. It feels so rewarding to get involved and be part of their transformation and part of their victory over something they've struggled with their entire lives," says Dr. Charley.
